Listening and Speaking (Greeting, Introduction, command and prohibition)

1. GREETING

Based on the situation, greetings are divided into two kinds, namely formal and informal situations. In formal situations, greetings that ususally used are:
- Good morning
- Good afternoon
- Good evening
Note: If someone greets us by saying greetings above, we have to give response by repeating the greeting she/he says.

Greeting has a relationship with time.
- Good morning usually used in 00.00 - 12.00 a.m
- Good afternoon usually used in 12.00 - 06.00 p.m
- Good evening usually used in 06.00 - 00.00 p.m

2. INTRODUCTION

There are some points usually told when someone introduce his/herself, namely full name, nick name, place and date of birth, hobby, address, favourite, ambition, and soo on you need it is important.

In introducing one self, you can started by using this expressions:
a. "Greeting" (Based on the situation)
b. "Opening introduction (Say thanks for the time, chance, or opportunity, and so on)
Exapmle : - Thank you very much for the chance that you have given to me, ...
- Thank you very much for the opportunity, ...
- Allow me to introduce myself, ...
- Let me introduce myself to you, ...
c. "Introduction (Consists of full name, nick name, hobby, address, and so on)
d. "Closing introduction (Say thanks for the audience's attention)
Example : - That's all my introduction, ...
- Thank you very much for your attention, ...
e. "Greeting"

In introducing someone to another, the basic point that should know is about subject, to be, and pronoun.
Subject ------->To be
I -----------> am
You -----------> are
We -----------> are
They ----------> are
He -----------> is
She -----------> is
It -----------> is

Read the dialogue bellow!!!
Andi and Inda are friends. Andi and Andre are friends too. Andi wants to introduce Andre to Inda.
Andi : Hello, Inda.
Inda : Hi, Andi. How are you?
Andi : I am fine, and you?
Inda : I am not bad. Andi, who is he?
Andi : Oh, ya. He is my friend. His name is Andre.
Andre, she is my firiend, her name is Inda.
Andre : Nice to meet you, Inda.
Inda : Nice to meet you too,Andre.
Andi : Inda, we have to go now. See you later.
Inda : See you too.

3. COMMAND AND PROHIBITION

Generally command and prohibition are instruction. A command is an instructions told with the goal in order someone do the instruction, and a prohibition is an instruction told with the goal in order someone do not do something prohibited.
In making a command, usually it is started by "Verb 1".For example:
- "Open the door!"
- "Close your eyes!"
- "Turn the Air Conditioner on!"
- "Clean the whiteboard!"
Note :
- open, close, turn on, and clean are Verb 1
- To make your commandpolite, you can add by saying "Please". Example :
"Open your book, please!"
"Come here, please!"

If you do not want people to do something, make a sentence started by "Don't" and it is called prohibiton. For example :
- "Don't open your book!"
- "Don't smoking in this class!"
- "Don't play with fire!"
- "Don't pick your nose!"
